Matt Finney shot me an e-mail over about two weeks ago asking me to hook his band up with a review. Upon hearing it was himself and composer Heinali, a duo based in two different parts of world, mixing spoken word poetry with industrial style music I couldn’t resist. The duo’s latest effort entitled Lemonade mixes a lot of elements of industrial, electronic, and sounds you’d hear in Terminator or any other apocalypse movie.
This album to me has been one of my absolute favorites to listen to, Matt’s voice can be both soothing and twisted, the poetry is dark, but tells a story. It’s everything you could want lyrically in an album. Combined with composer Heinali’s expert composing skills you have a soundtrack any movie could only dream of. Mixed with its dramatic dark moments and some incredible uplifting areas; this truly is a record that can be described as epic. I can’t really say much more about this record other than the fact it is jaw dropping and if you don’t pick it up, you are truly missing out. Everything production wise sounds perfect and clear.
