Castevet is unlike any band I've ever heard before. Combining raspy vocals, dreamy sounds, heavy distorted yet beautifully crisp guitar, the band paints pictures with their latest full length record "The Echo & The Light"
The Chicago, IL based quartet's latest release is nothing short of amazing. Nick's passionate vocals combined with pure musicianship make for a record you'll play over and over again. I don't really know how to describe this band other than where 90's emo left off. Upbeat yet passionate the nine track full length record clocking in at just under thirty minutes is pure amazingness. The album doesn't have a weak point at all, and has singalongs that will have everyone on each others shoulders. "hiccups" is my personal favorite on the album where the band showcases their upbeat side, singalongs, and expect musicianship at crafting beautiful slow clean parts. The only thing I dislike about this record is that it ends. It has some really aw production which showcases the bands D.I.Y spirit, and talent flows within this bands release. With powerful tracks like "Narrow Hallways" and one of the most passionate album closers I've heard. "The Echo & The Light" is hands down a contender for album of the year. If you loved The Gaslight Anthems 59' sound, or Piano's Become The Teeth's Old Pride. then you'll love this album musically. So heres the breakdown,
Lyrics 10/10
Musicianship 10/10
Vocals 10/10
Production 9/10
Lasting Value 10/10
Artwork 9/10
Energy 8/10
I give this record a 10/10 for being hands down the best record i've reviewed so far. Please go support these dudes and the label releasing this amazing album on vinyl Tiny Engines.
